What are you spraying, wiping and washing into the environment your family lives in every day?

Australians spend around 20 hours a day indoors — and the NSW EPA identifies chemical cleaning products as one source of indoor air pollution. But it's not just what goes into the air. Many conventional cleaning products leave a chemical film on the surfaces your family touches, eats from and crawls across every single day.

The NSW EPA says poor indoor air quality can cause effects ranging from headaches and tiredness to aggravation of asthma and allergic responses, and chemical cleaning products are specifically listed among indoor pollutants.

It isn't only about one exposure. Healthdirect recognises that repeated exposure to chemical fumes can cause serious, long-term effects on the lungs and nervous system. And when you consider that most households use 10–15 different products — many containing the same chemical ingredients — the cumulative picture matters.

The NSW EPA's own guidance says that in most cases, it is possible to reduce overall use of chemicals and switch to products that are less hazardous. That's exactly what this workshop is about.

You don't need a cupboard full of specialised chemical products to keep your home clean. Making your own effective, natural alternatives is easier than you think — and your home, your family and your wallet will thank you.

Join Merry Little Elderberry for a hands-on Natural Cleaning Products Workshop and learn how to make simple, effective cleaning products using affordable, everyday ingredients — for a fraction of the cost, with a fraction of the toxic load, and without sending mountains of plastic to landfill.
